Akiko Hasunuma will have Memorial Service on Saturday, May 18th at Rose Hills in Whittier at 11:00 AM.

Our dear friend and colleague, Akiko Hasunuma, passed away Thursday, March 28 after a long bout with cancer.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 18th at Rose Hills in Whittier at 11:00 AM.
We hope many of you will be able to come to honor the life of Akiko.
We remember her fondly and will miss her greatly. Akiko served as MTAC Pasadena Branch co-President with Fritzie Culick, and served as both Bach Branch Festival and SCJBF Regional Festival Chair for close to 20 years. She was a wonderful teacher and produced some great students who consistently did well in piano competitions and festivals. One of her greatest legacies in the world of music was founding the Piano Teachers Music Guild in Tokyo, Japan which is based on a similar structure and guiding principles as our CM Program. Akiko leaves a son, Jun, and granddaughter, Emily.

Amanda Wu, Cathy Chen and Jing Yi Xu received 2024 Top Teacher awards from Steinway

Steinway Piano Gallery in Pasadena had a piano teacher appreciation lunch at Noor in Pasadena on January 26, 2024. About 20 Pasadena piano teachers attended.

Three of our teachers, Amanda Wu, Cathy Chen and Jing Yi Xu received Top Teacher awards. Kelly Anderson performed a piano solo – Fairy Tale in A by Medtner. Several other teachers from other branches performed, making it an interesting event. Each attendee was gifted with a pair of black knit gloves with the Steinway logo embossed on the gloves. A very timely gift in this cold weather.
